February 17, 2021

The Clinical Innovation Platform (CLIP) of the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is pleased to announce the residency of FemTherapeutics. In brand new facilities designed to help health care start up companies, the CLIP will provide access to research space, mentorship, clinical trial services and tools for development of innovative new products.

FemTherapeutics is Canadian based medical technology start-up that is harnessing the power of personalized medicine to improve health outcomes and the quality of life for women. They are helping manage the effects of a weak pelvic floor which can lead to incontinence or Pelvic Organ Prolapse. FemTherapeutics is developing custom vaginal pessaries to treat pelvic floor issues. With their innovative technology, they aim to provide effective symptomatic relief and restore the highest quality of life to all women.

“We are excited for the opportunity to be at the CLIP – it’s the perfect place to launch a start-up” says FemTherapeutics CEO and Co-Founder Lydia Aguirre.

“We are creating innovative treatments for women, by women” says Negin Ashouri, CTO and Co-Founder of FemTherapeutics. “POP affects 1 in 10 women and the only way to treat it is with surgery or prosthetics called pessaries which come in limited shapes and sizes. Our custom pessaries are personalized to each woman to reduce complications and side effects associated with ill-fitting pessaries. The CLIP has all the resources needed to make this a reality.”

Additional members of the FemTherapeutics team include: Inara Lalani, COO and Co-Founder; Fereshteh Jahangard, MD, Director of Medical Affairs; Erfan Fatehi, Lead Mechanical Engineer; Majid Roshanfar, Mechanical Engineer; Mihnea Gangal, MD, Consultant
