MedAlign AR joins the CLIP

Share

We are thrilled to welcome MedAlign AR to the CLIP Community!

Founded by Drs. Ahmed Aoude, Robert Turcotte, Amir Hooshiar, and Renzo Cecere, MD, the team is developing advanced surgical robotics designed to execute highly precise, patient-specific bone resections in complex oncologic procedures.

Current surgical tools lack the ability to reliably perform curved, margin-controlled cuts in confined anatomical spaces, leading to variability in outcomes and increased risk of incomplete tumor removal. Our robotic system addresses this gap by enabling sub-millimetric, curvilinear bone cutting based on preoperative planning, while integrating real-time force sensing and bone-density awareness to adapt cutting behavior safely across heterogeneous tissue.

MedAlign’s vision is to establish a new standard for precision in orthopedic oncology and spine surgery through intelligent, semi-autonomous robotic systems that enhance surgical accuracy, reduce variability, and improve patient outcomes. Ultimately, they aim to expand this technology across a broader range of musculoskeletal and interventional procedures where high-precision tissue manipulation is critical.

As part of the CLIP, MedAlign AR will be co-located alongside clinicians at the Montreal General Hospital and RI-MUHC | Research Institute of the MUHC | #rimuhc. Our ecosystem will support their continued development, while helping accelerate their technologies path toward clinical adoption and broader application.
